Neoprene Jacket

A neoprene jacket is very similar to a wet suit top in many different ways. The biggest difference is that a neoprene jacket will typically have a zipper on the front that will let you totally open up the neoprene jacket when you are taking it off and on or should you get too warm you can just unzip it or unzip it and remove it with ease. Some of the wet suit tops that are out there are some times also called a neoprene jacket even though they do not have the trade mark zipper on the front but that is a little bit misleading when you think about it. This usually happens with the surfing type wet suit tops that will just about never have the front zipper on them. Why you might ask? Well, while your laying on your tummy on a surfboard you would find your self to be laying right on top of the zipper and would be extremely uncomfortable. Also, due to the wax on the surf board, the zipper could quickly become very dirty and very hard to both zip and unzip as well as the fact that the zipper on a neoprene jacket could damage the surf board.

The other difference between the two is the fact that a wet suit jacket does tend to be made from a slightly thicker type of neoprene than the wet suit tops and it is there for much warmer to wear. The zipper will help you get in and out of the neoprene jacket even if it is thicker than some of the others. You see trying to pull an extremely thick neoprene jacket over your head with out having a zipper just wont work very well if you can get it on at all. Most of the normal neoprene jackets thickness is about two millimeters thick while the wet suit tops are typically any where from 0.5 to 1.5 millimeters thick.

Neoprene jacket is usually used by divers and the like. Its very handy because you can have on a long john type wet suit as well as a neoprene jacket and then you can also use them by them selves or even combine them to make a two piece wet suit if you like. This is very handy because doing it this way will allow you to go to quite a large range of different water temperatures with out having to buy many different wet suits.

The typical temperature range that a neoprene jacket is good for is from about 72F (22C) but should you combine it along with a long john type wet suit then you can go into much lower temeratures.
